North District Division II Playoff System

The teams in the three North DII divisions will play their required minimum seven division games by the end of the regular season, Friday April 27th.  The division games will be designated as “District” games on the THSLL schedule. However, if a game is mis-designated, it will not affect a team's eligibility provided the required games have been played. Required games include every team in your division plus at least one team from the other two divisions (7 total minimum). This means some teams may have more than 7 games designated as district games, but it will not affect your ranking since playoff positions are determine by coaches vote only. The team in each division with the best record against teams in their own division will be that division’s champion.
RPI* and SOS** scores will be calculated for each team based on their District games and will be provided to the coaches at our North DII post season meeting on APRIL 28th (time and place TBD). All games played against DII North opponents will be included in the RPI or SOS calculations. Coaches will stack rank the other teams, not ranking their own team.

We have five slots this year for the THSLL DII Post Season, our top ten teams will play a one-game playoff (1-10, 2-9, 3-8, 4-7, 5-6) on April 30th or May 1st. May 2nd is reserved for rain delay makeup games.  We will seed the winning teams based on the stack rank done previously, and the teams will advance in that order to the THSLL DII Post Season.
*  To calculate RPI (Rating Percentage Index), divide the sum of all opponents' win percentages, excluding those games played against the team for which RPI is being calculated, by the total number of opponents.  Opponents' opponents' win percentage is the average winning percentage of a team's opponents' opponents.  (RPI = (WP * 0.25) + (OWP * 0.50) + (OOWP * 0.25))
** To calculate SOS (Strength of Schedule), determine the cumulative won/loss records of the team's opponents and the cumulative won/loss records of the teams' opponents' opponents.
