Bowie Lacrosse JV Defensive Assistant Coach Opening

Bowie Bulldogs Lacrosse has openings for High School JV Defense Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2026-2027 fall and spring season: As an assistant coach, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the head coach and helping the team reach its goals. Your focus will be on player development, and contributing to the overall success of the program.

Bowie Bulldogs Lacrosse encourages you to consider coaching with us for the upcoming fall and spring seasons. The high school program competes in the B division of the Central District of the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL).  Coaching positions are part-time with a competitive pay structure.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support Head Coach:
    • Collaborate with the head coach in player development and performance evaluation
    • Provide input on roster decisions, lineup selections, and in-game adjustments
  2. Player Development:
    • Work with individual players to improve their skills in specific areas, such as stick work, footwork, and positioning
    • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to players during practices and games
    • Help create a positive and competitive practice environment that fosters player growth and teamwork
  3. Player Support and Mentorship:
    • Build positive relationships with players and provide mentorship and guidance as needed
    • Support players' academic and personal development, emphasizing the importance of balance and self-discipline
    • Assist in promoting a culture of sportsmanship, respect, and accountability within the team.
  4. Time Commitment:
  • FALL: October- December 2024 (2-3 events per week). Practice and 1-3 tournaments and/or scrimmages. 
  • SPRING: beginning in late January 2026 and ends late April 2026 (possibly early May due to State Playoffs),

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain professional, positive, and respectful relationships with student-athletes, other coaches, officials, parents, and members of the club's board 
  • Willing to coach an overall HS system to ensure players are ready for the next level within the program
  • Remain aware of all legal liabilities related to all athletic activities and ensure a safe environment for all athletes
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of the rules of the game (NCAA and THSLL)
  • Previous lacrosse playing experience (NCAA, MCLA, JUCO, High School)
  • Previous lacrosse coaching experience(NCAA,MCLA, JUCO, High SChool)

SALARY:To be discussed, based on experience level. 

BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates must pass a state mandated background check and be a US Lacrosse member.
