Smithson Valley Lacrosse Varsity Head Coach Opening

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered individual to serve as the Smithson Valley Head Boys Lacrosse Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of the boys lacrosse program while fostering a culture of sportsmanship, accountability, discipline, fun, and athletic excellence. The Head Coach will mentor student-athletes, promote academic success, and represent the program with integrity both on and off the field.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership: Plan, organize, and oversee all aspects of the boys lacrosse program.

  • Player & Skill Development: Develop and implement practice plans that promote skill development, teamwork, and player safety.

  • Game & Practice Management: Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team events.

  • Culture & Values: Build a positive team culture that emphasizes character, respect, and sportsmanship.

  • Staff Collaboration: Collaborate with assistant coaches to ensure consistent instruction and program development.

  • Academic & Behavior Promotion: Promote academic achievement and positive behavior among student-athletes.

  • Communication: Communicate effectively with players, parents, school administration, officials, and opposing programs.

  • Logistics & Operations: Coordinate team logistics, including equipment, uniforms, transportation, and scheduling.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all school, district, league, and state athletic association policies and regulations.

  • Professional Engagement: Participate in coaches’ meetings, professional development opportunities, and athletic department events.

  • Program Growth: Assist with offseason player development and program growth, including youth outreach and community engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous high school and/or collegiate lacrosse coaching experience.

  • Strong knowledge of offensive, defensive, and special teams strategies.

  • Experience mentoring and developing student-athletes.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, faculty, and the community.

  • Must successfully complete all required background checks and district coaching requirements.
