Bowie Bulldogs Lacrosse – JV Assistant Defensive Coach Openings
Fall 2024 & Spring 2025 Seasons | Part-Time | Competitive Pay
Bowie Bulldogs Lacrosse is seeking an Assistant Defensive Coach for our High School Junior Varsity team for the upcoming fall and spring seasons. These part-time roles are a great opportunity to help shape a competitive and character-driven program while developing future varsity players.
As a JV Assistant Coach, you will support the Head Coach in all aspects of team operations—with a primary focus on defensive skill development, game planning, and mentoring student-athletes both on and off the field.
About the Program
Bowie High School competes in the B Division of the Central District of the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL). Our program is rapidly growing and committed to a culture of player development, leadership, and accountability.
Responsibilities
Coaching & Player Development
- Assist with planning and executing practice sessions, drills, and game strategies
- Focus on defensive positioning, footwork, communication, and team systems
- Provide individualized feedback and promote a positive, growth-oriented environment
- Collaborate with the head coach on evaluations, roster decisions, and in-game adjustments
Team Management & Support
- Help coordinate practices, scrimmages, and team events
- Maintain equipment and practice/game readiness
- Build strong, supportive relationships with student-athletes
- Serve as a liaison between players, coaching staff, and program leadership
Scouting & Game Preparation
- Assist in film review, scouting reports, and strategy development
- Contribute to opponent analysis and weekly game planning
Mentorship & Culture
- Promote academic success, responsibility, and sportsmanship
- Lead by example in fostering a competitive, respectful, and team-first environment
Seasonal Commitment
Fall 2024 (October–December)
- 2–3 practices/events per week
- 1–3 tournaments and/or scrimmages
Spring 2025 (February–April)
- Full season commitment (practices, games, travel as needed)
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Previous lacrosse playing and/or coaching experience (High School, NCAA, MCLA, or JUCO)
- Solid understanding of NCAA and THSLL rules
- Committed to program-wide development and progression between JV and Varsity levels
- Ability to create a safe, inclusive, and development-focused environment
- Must pass a state-mandated background check and be a US Lacrosse member
Compensation
- Competitive pay, commensurate with experience
- Travel stipends and gear packages may be available
