Gateway Gators Lacrosse – Youth & High School Assistant Coach Openings (Offense & Defense)
Fall 2025 & Spring 2026 Seasons | Part-Time | Competitive Pay

Gateway Lacrosse is hiring Assistant Coaches for our Youth (Grades K–8) and High School (JV/Varsity) programs for the upcoming fall and spring seasons. We are seeking passionate individuals to support both offensive and defensive development across age levels. As an Assistant Coach, you’ll work alongside experienced staff to teach fundamentals, run practices, and help shape a positive, growth-focused team culture.


About the Program

Gateway Lacrosse is a community-based program committed to long-term player development and character building. Our youth teams (Grades K–8) serve as the foundation of our high school program, which competes in the B Division of the Central District of the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL). We emphasize skill development, mentorship, and fostering a love for the game at every level.


Responsibilities

Coaching & Player Development

  • Assist with planning and executing age-appropriate practice sessions and drills
  • Teach lacrosse fundamentals—positioning, footwork, stick skills, communication, and game IQ
  • Support both individual and team development across youth and high school teams
  • Provide consistent feedback and encourage a positive, inclusive environment
  • Adapt coaching styles to match the needs of younger players and teens

Team Management & Support

  • Help coordinate practices, scrimmages, tournaments, and events
  • Ensure players have proper equipment and are ready to participate
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with student-athletes and families
  • Assist with roster management and communication across youth and JV/Varsity levels

Scouting & Game Preparation (High School)

  • Participate in film review and game planning at the JV/Varsity level
  • Support the development of scouting reports and defensive/offensive strategies

Mentorship & Culture

  • Promote sportsmanship, accountability, and academic balance
  • Foster a respectful and inclusive culture for all players—regardless of age or skill level
  • Serve as a role model both on and off the field

Seasonal Commitment

Fall 2025 (October–December)

  • 1–2 practices per week for youth teams (Grades K–8)
  • 2–3 practices/events per week for JV/Varsity
  • 1–3 tournaments or play days (Youth & HS)

Spring 2026 (February–April)

  • Full season commitment (practices, league games, and occasional travel)
  • Youth and JV/Varsity teams practice and compete weekly

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and ability to connect with both young players and high school athletes
  • Previous lacrosse playing or coaching experience (Youth, High School, NCAA, MCLA, or Club)
  • Familiarity with US Lacrosse and THSLL rules (or willingness to learn)
  • Committed to the full player pipeline—from K–8 through Varsity
  • Passionate about growing the game and developing confident, capable student-athletes
  • Must pass a background check and be an active US Lacrosse member

Compensation

  • Competitive pay, based on experience and age group
  • Gear packages and travel stipends may be included
  • Coaching education opportunities available
