Dripping Springs High School Lacrosse
Varsity Head Coach/Program Director Position

The Dripping Springs High School Boys Lacrosse Club (Drip LAX) represents Dripping Springs High School (DSHS) in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL). Our governing board is actively searching for qualified candidates for the position of Varsity Head Coach/Program Director.

About Dripping Springs and DSHS:  DSHS is a 6A public high school located in the Texas Hill Country, about 20 miles west of Austin, Texas. Texas is one of the largest developing areas of lacrosse west of the Appalachians—motivated and knowledgeable coaches have a tremendous opportunity to grow the game. Austin and surrounding communities are experiencing high growth, and aspiring coaches will see athleticism, grit, determination, and coachability in our player-athletes—essential components of any lacrosse program aspiring for elite-level play.

About DRIP LAX: Since its founding over 16 years ago, Drip LAX has prioritized our core values of brotherhood, discipline, respect, and love for the game. We believe culture is paramount, and wins will follow. In April 2024, the Central Texas Lacrosse Officials Association (CTLOA) honored our club with the Donald Carnes Award, recognizing our sportsmanship, quality of play, respect for the game’s character, and the honor our club brings to the sport. The 2024 season finished with Drip LAX advancing to the THSLL Class B Final Four State Championships, a first for our program.

What to expect: The Drip LAX board oversees the business aspects of the club, including coach contract oversight, fundraising, sponsorships, registrations, parent relations, and defining strategic goals. Drip LAX coaches enjoy coaching autonomy, and a supportive board open to your advice and recommendations for day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic vision for the club.

Preferred Candidates must exhibit:

  • Exceptionally high lacrosse IQ.
  • Collegiate lacrosse playing experience (NCAA Division I/II/III preferred).
  • Strong organizational analytical skills on the field to enable tactical pivots.
  • Proper sportsmanship and respect for players, officials, opponents, fans, and other coaches.
  • Mentorship of player-athletes by modeling behavior and advancing technical ability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Drip LAX positively in the community, with DSHS, DSISD, and THSLL.
  • Administer fall season (October-December, 2 practices/week and 2 tournaments in Texas) and spring regular season (January- May, with 3-4 evenings of practice with games in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston).
  • Oversight of coaching staff, which includes offensive and defensive coordinators, assistant coaches, and JV coaches.

Interested applicants should email a cover letter, resume and three references to dstigerslax@gmail.com. All applicants will be reviewed by the Drip LAX board. Recommended applicants will be required to interview with the Drip LAX hiring committee and undergo a background check as a conditional offer of employment. Salary will be discussed, but competitive based on experience level.
