O'Connell Tabbed to Lead UD Men's Lacrosse Program
The University of Dallas Athletic Department has named Matt O'Connell has been hired as the University's first men's lacrosse coach. The 2006 graduate of SUNY-Cortland who played lacrosse all four years at the school, worked most recently as an assistant lacrosse coach at his alma mater. O'Connell, who won NCAA DIII national championships at SUNY-Cortland as both a player and coach, also served as an assistant coach at Morrisville State College.Â
O'Connell also brings with him a great amount of success in the sport UD desires. Other then his national championships with SUNY-Cortland, he was named the SUNYAC Lacrosse Conference Player of the Year, the ECAC Upstate Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year, was named second team All-American, and a second team All-SUNYAC Conference member.
The University will be starting men's lacrosse for 2010-11 season and will become the second NCAA DIII in the state to offer the sport. Coach O'Connell can be reached at: moconnell@udallas.edu.
