Position Overview:

The Vandegrift Lacrosse Booster Organization (Vipers Lacrosse), a member of Texas High School Lacrosse League and Central Texas Youth Lacrosse Association, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate Varsity Head Lacrosse Coach and Program Director to lead our entire program, including Vipers Youth Lacrosse, Vipers Lacrosse, and Vipers High School Lacrosse. This dual role requires a strong commitment to developing student-athletes, promoting the sport of lacrosse, and commitment to our culture of Family, Toughness & Discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

Coaching and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement effective coaching strategies, drills, and practices.
  • Foster a positive, competitive, and inclusive team culture based on our core values - Family, Toughness & Discipline.
  • Mentor and support student athletes. 
  • Focus on player development, providing individual and team instruction to enhance player skills and performance.
  • Lead the Varsity team in all games, practices, and tournaments.
  • Promote and assist players in the college recruitment process.
  • Recruit, lead and mentor the Varsity assistant and JV coaches
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents and the Booster Organization
  • Build productive relationships with THSLL and our district to effectively promote the overall program, advocate for player awards and grow Lacrosse for Central Texas.
  • Plan and organize the team's schedule, including practices, games and travel.

Program Director:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive club lacrosse program for various age groups and skill levels (1st-12th grade).
  • Recruit, hire and supervise qualified coaching staff. 
  • Promote the club program within the community to increase participation and support.
  • Organize clinics, camps and workshops to develop youth lacrosse players.
  • Foster relationships with local schools, sports organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Booster Organization to cover all aspects of student-athlete academic and welfare issues
  • Support for rules compliance with Leander ISD, THSLL and CTYLA.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in coaching lacrosse at the youth, high school level and/or collegiate levels. 
  • Proven track record of successful team leadership and player development.
  • Previous experience leading a Lacrosse Program is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of lacrosse techniques, rules and strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes.
  • Commitment to promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic achievement.
  • Proficiency in using technology for coaching and administrative tasks.
  • Strong college recruiting network and relationships.
