Westwood High School Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Position : Head Varsity Coach Season: Fall 2025/Spring 2026 (with potential for extension).

District/Division: Central Texas, Class B Expected for 2025-26

Summary: Westwood High School in Austin, Texas, is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to lead its Men's High School Lacrosse program for the 2025-2026 school year. The Head Varsity Coach will play a pivotal role in providing leadership, supervision, and organization for the entire Men's Lacrosse program, including Junior Varsity and feeder levels, in collaboration with the Youth Director.

Our program is composed of players from three Round Rock ISD Schools: Westwood, McNeil and Round Rock HS. We aim to secure a coach who is deeply invested in the long-term success of both the high school team and the youth organization, exemplifying professionalism, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred: College lacrosse experience as a player or coach (NCAA Division I/II/III). Comprehensive understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive, respectful relationships with student-athletes.
  • Strong leadership presence and the ability to motivate high school student-athletes. Excellent organizational and collaborative skills to work effectively with team members, coaches and support staff at all levels.
  • Vision for developing a grassroots feeder system down to the Junior Varsity and middle school levels.
  • Experience in selecting and recruiting assistant coaches and head coaches for lower levels.
  • Passion for lacrosse and a commitment to the core values of the Westwood Warrior Lacrosse community.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive curriculum for the high school lacrosse program.
  • Formulate strategies to compete for a State Championship at the Varsity level.
  • Train and develop student-athletes to enhance their lacrosse skills and overall understanding of the game.
  • Create team practice plans and competition strategies, including offseason strength training.
  • Represent the Men’s Lacrosse program at community events.
  • Serve as a positive role model, instilling self-discipline on and off the field.
  • Communicate and enforce the player code of conduct.
  • Collaborate with players, parents, and the Westwood Board on program development, scheduling, recruitment, volunteer support, and player discipline.
  • Comply with league rules while maintaining positive relationships within the league.
  • Be visible and accessible to support youth coaches and players (K-8th grade).
  • Foster open communication and growth plans with players.
  • Provide support for recruiting opportunities for eligible student-athletes aiming to play lacrosse at the collegiate level.

Salary: Commensurate with experience, negotiable. A performance-based bonus is available upon meeting specific criteria.
