The Bowie Boys Lacrosse program has been awarded the Carnes Award by the Central Texas Lacrosse Officials Association (CTLOA).
The award is presented to one men’s high school lacrosse program in recognition for their sportsmanship, quality of play, respect for the game’s character, and the honor that they bring to the sport. This award is voted by the membership of the entire Central Texas Lacrosse Officials Association.
As the winner of the Donald Carnes Award, Bowie Boys Lacrosse will serve as the Central Region's nominee for the Bob Patterson Award, which is the sportsmanship award presented to one team at the statewide level.
The CTLOA created the award in honor of Donald Carnes. Don is a retired member of the Central Texas Lacrosse Officials Association. He was an active referee in Texas for 35 years and Chief Referee for the State of Texas for many years. He is also a co-founder of the lacrosse club for the University of Texas and the first youth team in the Central Texas Region. Don is a lifelong supporter of lacrosse and has always exhibited the highest level of professionalism, honor and respect for the game.
