In continuance of the traditional school rivalry & friendship that exists between Anderson HS and McCallum HS, the teams took to the field last night in the 1st Annual Mangia Bowl. The atmosphere last night was fever pitched making it one of the most incredible lacrosse experiences in Central Texas. Several hundred fans packed the hillside at Anderson HS, Mangia Pizza provided the main sponsorship, there was a pizza eating contest, cheer leaders, dance teams and trophy hoisting.
McCallum took a 4 - 1 lead at the half. Anderson stormed back in the 3rd quarter and the game was tied 5 - 5 going into the 4th period. Midway through the 4th McCallum stretched the to 2 goals and in the final 3 minutes both teams scored for the 8 - 6 final.
At the post game, the teams took a few minutes to honor Ken Singer, the original Anderson HS coach and Scott Aubin, an original Anderson player who played for Ken and later coached McCallum for 10 very successful seasons.
Finally, a thanks to Southswell Sports for donating the MVP Stick that was awarded to Andy Uhl, a freshman attackman.
