Keller Lacrosse Association is seeking 7/8 head coach/program director. The lacrosse program fields teams at the high school and youth level, ranging from K-12, and is in a period of rapid growth. The Varsity team was the 2022 class B champions and are performing well within the class A division.
Position summary:
Working with the support of the Keller Lacrosse Association Board, the Director is responsible for developing all 7/8 players on and off the field by creating a championship caliber environment, an open door for competition and development of skills, character and leadership at all levels. Additionally, the Director shall supervise and nurture the youth program to “grow the sport” from kindergarten through 8th grade.
The Director provides visionary and inspirational leadership for Keller Lacrosse from kindergarten through 8th grade. The Director will develop, align and execute short and long-range goals for the program and ensure a cooperative, supportive, and competitive environment for student-athletes. Adherence to policies and standards is required. Positive role modeling that provides focus on the mission of Keller Lacrosse for the development of good sportsmanship, leadership qualities, and personal and team growth is expected. The ability to promote Keller Lacrosse to student-athletes, parents, and the community is expected.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of successful coaching experience with demonstrated leadership ability for 7/8 head coaches and at least one year of experience for assistant coaches within the last four years.
- Collegiate playing experience in this sport is highly desirable with high school level playing experience expected as a minimum requirement
- Experience directing a youth lacrosse program is highly desirable
- Must have leadership experience and strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, be relatable and possess excellent team building skills.
- Demonstrate proper sportsmanship and respect for players, officials, opponents, fans, the game, and other coaches,
- Strong work ethic
- USA Lacrosse membership required.
- Willingness to listen and collaborate with other coaches, captains & players.
- Knowledgeable of safety training, procedures and best practices used throughout the sports and wellness industry.
- USA Lacrosse certified coach is a plus.
Pre-employment requirements:
- Required to be a member of USA Lacrosse and pass a criminal background check.
- Anyone offered employment is required to provide the following: proper identification (Social Security Card and Driver’s License), documentation of eligibility for employment in the U.S.A., completion of I-9 form.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of season, practice plans and workouts on all levels.
- Coach and instruct athletes, both individually and in groups using appropriate lacrosse development instruction.
- Utilize game video or other technology to coach and develop team play.
- Attend all games
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with athletes, families, and the community of Keller.
- Assist with administrative duties as appropriate
- Strong communication with the board and community with respect to calendar of events including teams schedules, practices, games, tournaments, community events, camps, etc.
- Help maintain equipment and supplies
- Supporting the safety of all members, guests and employees.
